Chapter Conduct History

The information on this website is provided in the spirit of transparency and accountability throughout the University of Virginia Greek system. Greek organizations at the University of Virginia are self-governed, and therefore responsible for their choices and actions. Disciplinary infractions are reported on this website only if a student organization is found responsible following appropriate due process procedures. Greek population: approximately 3,500 members (22% of undergraduate population)

Fall 2014 St. Elmo Hall IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol, personal safety, disorderly conduct, personal character, and social events. Required IFCJC outcomes included social probation (October 3, 2014-October 24, 2014), registration of a Chapter Standards Board, completion of educational programming for bystander intervention,  and submission of a risk management position outline. Further incidents of physical altercations prior to December 31, 2014, future sanctions will increase in severity.
Fall 2014 Pi Kappa Phi IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding blocking or impeding pedestrian/vehicular traffic, disorderly conduct, and personal character.  Required IFCJC outcomes included a personal apology to all parties involved, creation and implementation of a risk management policy presentation for all chapter members, and participation in two clean-up's of University Grounds. Further violations of any IFCJC standards prior to December 31st, 2014 will result in social probation. 
Fall 2014 Pi Kappa Phi IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and social events.  Required IFCJC outcomes included social probation (terminated on January 3, 2015), submission of a report of the chapter's internal Chapter Standards Board sanctions, and submission of a revised Chapter Standards Board Constitution to the IFCJC. 
Fall 2014 Alpha Tau Omega IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and social events.  Required IFCJC outcomes included completion of educational programming for alcohol and submission of revised risk management policies to the IFCJC. 
Fall 2014 Omega Psi Phi University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding alcohol and disorderly conduct. Required University outcomes included submission of a chapter action plan, completion of educational programming for alcohol, and implementation of a bi-annual review of national codes of conduct and disciplinary policies.
Fall 2014 Kappa Alpha Psi University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding alcohol and disorderly conduct. Required University outcomes included submission of a chapter action plan, an internal review of chapter social standards, and completion of community service.

Spring 2015 Phi Society University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding new member activities.  Required University outcomes included submission of revised new member education plan to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life and completion of educational programming on hazing in coordination with Fraternity & Sorority life for Fall 2015. 
Spring 2015 Phi Kappa Psi University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding new member activities.  Required University outcomes included submission of revised new member education plan in compliance with national fraternity standards to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life and completion of educational programming on hazing in coordination with Fraternity & Sorority life for Fall 2015.

Spring 2015 Alpha Phi HQ The chapter failed to comply with ISC policies. Required national sorority outcomes included completion of educational programming for ISC and Title IX policies, and participation in a Green Dot informational session. 
Spring 2015 Alpha Delta Pi HQ The chapter failed to comply with national sorority standards regarding alcohol and social conduct.  Required national sorority outcomes included social probation for Fall 2015, completion of a comprehensive review of national policies at chapter meetings, completion of educational programming for Title IX policies, decision making, social media, and national rituals.  
Spring 2015 St. Elmo Hall IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding city/county noise ordinance levels. Required IFCJC outcomes included completion of education programming on liability and general safety, and social probation (September 14, 2015-September 27, 2015). Further incidents that violate city/county noise ordinance levels prior to December 8, 2015 will result in sanctions of increased severity. 
Spring 2015 Tau Kappa Epsilon IFC The chapter failed to comply IFC standards regarding alcohol and social events. Required IFCJC outcomes included submission of risk management plans to the IFCJC. Further incidents of alcohol and social event violations prior to December 8, 2015, will result in sanctions of increased severity.
Fall 2015 Phi Society IFC The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding alcohol. Required IFCJC outcomes included submission of revised risk management policies, completion of educational programming on alcohol. Further incidents of alcohol violations prior to February 6th, 2015, will result in sanctions of increased severity. 
Fall 2015 Tau Kappa Epsilon IFC The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding alcohol.  Required IFCJC outcomes included completion of educational programming on alcohol. Fall 2015 Lambda Phi Epsilon HQ The chapter failed to comply with national standards regarding alcohol and social events.  Required national outcomes included social probation (December 14, 2015 - June 1, 2016), completion of risk management and social event planning program, and hosting of open risk management program. 
Fall 2015 Sigma Pi IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and social events.  Required IFCJC outcomes included completion of additional educational programing on alcohol and submission of revised risk management plan to the Vice Chairman for Sanctions and Trial Chairman.

Fall 2015 Phi Gamma Delta IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding property damage and disorderly conduct. Required IFCJC outcomes included completion of educational programming on fire safety, submission of formal apology letter to the City of Charlottesville Fire Marshal, completion of service project through the City of Charlottesville Fire Department, and discussion of fire safety procedures with the City of Charlottesville Fire Marshal. 
Fall 2015 Alpha Epsilon Pi IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and social events.  Required IFCJC outcomes included completion of additional educational programming on alcohol and submission of revised risk management plan to the IFCJC Chairman. 
Fall 2015 St. Anthony Hall IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and social events.  Required IFCJC outcomes included completion of additional educational programming on alcohol. 
Spring 2016 Zeta Psi IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding personal safety, recruitment, and alcohol. Required IFCJC outcomes included completion of additional educational programming on a topic of the chapter's discretion and submission of revised risk management plan to the IFCJC Chairman and Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life. Further incidents of personal safety violations prior to May 3, 2016 will result in sanctions of increased severity. Further incidents of recruitment violations during the 2017 recruitment period will result sanctions of increased severity. 
Spring 2016 Zeta Psi IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding physical abuse and recruitment.  Required IFCJC outcomes included fines, and submission of a revised risk management plan to the IFCJC. Further incidents of alcohol, recruitment, or physical abuse violations will result in sanctions of increased severity.
Spring 2016 Kappa Kappa Gamma ISC; HQ The chapter failed to comply with ISC and national sorority standards regarding alcohol and social events. Required national and council outcomes included completion of additional educational programming on alcohol, implementation of Standards Committee training, creation and submission of a revised risk management plan, and required hosting of national risk management training program.
Spring 2016 Chi Omega HQ The chapter failed to comply with national sorority standards regarding new member activities.  Required national outcomes included limited social activity for the spring of 2016, required scheduling of all sisterhood events, completion of educational programming on bystander intervention, leading change, values, hazing prevention, and Title IX policies, and submission of  development plans for new member education practices to the national sorority. 
Spring 2016 Pi Lambda Phi IFC; HQ The chapter failed to comply with IFC and national fraternity standards regarding alcohol, personal conduct, and recruitment.  Required national and IFCJC outcomes included submission of an apology letter to Office of Housing and Residence Life, submission of a conduct report for all chapter participants during bid day,  removal of one recruitment event for Spring 2017, completion of FIPG risk management training, submission of revised recruitment programming to national fraternity, and required hosting of the national fraternity's regional recruitment conference. 
Spring 2016 Alpha Epsilon Pi IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and recruitment. Required IFCJC outcomes included a formal warning. Further incidents of alcohol or recruitment violations will result in sanctions of increased severity. 
Spring 2016 Phi Gamma Delta IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol, physical abuse, and personal conduct.  Required IFCJC outcomes included removal of one recruitment event for Spring 2017. Further incidents of alcohol, physical abuse, or social function violations will result in sanctions of increased severity.
Spring 2016 Phi Sigma Kappa IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and recruitment. Required IFCJC outcomes included fines. Further incidents of alcohol or recruitment violations will result in sanctions of increased severity. 
Spring 2016 Pi Kappa Alpha University; IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol, personal conduct, recruitment, and city/county trash ordinances.  Required University and IFCJC outcomes included submission of a letter of apology and facility action plan to the IFCJC and completion of a eight hour community service project with full chapter attendance. Further incidents of alcohol, personal conduct, recruitment, or city/county trash ordinances violations will result in sanctions of increased severity. 
Spring 2016 Tau Kappa Epsilon University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding new member activities.  Required University outcomes included submission of revised new member education plans in compliance with national fraternity standards to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life and completion of educational programming on hazing prevention in coordination with Fraternity & Sorority life for Fall 2016.  Further incidents of new member activities violations may result in the suspension or termination of the chapter's Fraternal Organization Agreement.
Spring 2016 Tau Kappa Epsilon University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding new member activities.  Required University outcomes included social probation through October 2nd, 2016, immediate initiation of all new members, completion of educational programming on how to effectively implement new member education plans through the national fraternity, completion of educational programming on hazing prevention through the national fraternity, and required bi-weekly meetings with Fraternity & Sorority Life staff during the 2017 new member education period. Further incidents of new member activities violations may result in the suspension or termination of the chapter's Fraternal Organization Agreement. 
Spring 2016 Beta Theta Pi University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding new member activities.  Required University outcomes included submission of revised new member education plans in compliance with national fraternity standards to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life and completion of educational programming on hazing prevention in coordination with Fraternity & Sorority life for Fall 2016. 
Spring 2016 Sigma Pi University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding new member activities.  Required University outcomes included submission of revised new member education plans in compliance with national fraternity standards to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life and completion of educational programming on hazing prevention in coordination with Fraternity & Sorority life for Fall 2016. 
Spring 2016 Delta Delta Delta HQ The chapter failed to comply with national sorority standards for alcohol. Required national sorority sanctions included recruitment and creation of an alumna advisory team, social probation for the fall of 2016, completion of educational programming on safety, risk management, and bystander intervention, and creation of chapter curriculum addressing national sorority values and history. 
Spring 2016 Lambda Upsilon Lambda University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding new member activities.  Required University sanctions included expedited initiation of all new members, creation and submission of a revised new member education plan to Fraternity & Sorority Life by September 1, 2016. Further incidents of new member activities violations may result in the suspension or termination of the chapter's Fraternal Organization Agreement.
Fall 2016 Delta Gamma ISC The chapter failed to comply with sorority standards for alcohol and social events. Required ISC outcomes included one month of non-alcohol events (September 17, 2017-October 17, 2017). 
Fall 2016 St. Elmo Hall University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding alcohol and social events. Required University outcomes included submission of revised risk management policy to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life by January 30, 2017. 
Fall 2016 St. Elmo Hall IFC The chapter failed to comply with city/county ordinances.  Required IFCJC outcomes included completion of educational programming on fire safety with the City of Charlottesville Fire Marshal. Further city/county ordinance violations will result in sanctions of increased severity. 
Fall 2016 St. Elmo Hall IFC The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding alcohol and social events. Required IFCJC outcomes included a warning. Further incidents of alcohol or social event violations will result in sanctions of increased severity.

Spring 2017 Alpha Epsilon Pi University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding alcohol and social events. Required University outcomes included submission of revised risk management policy to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life by April 3, 2017. 
Spring 2017 Kappa Alpha IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and recruitment. Required IFCJC outcomes included submission of a risk management plan for preventing future recruitment related violations and a formal warning. Further incidents of recruitment violations will result in sanctions of increased severity. 
Spring 2017 Pi Kappa Alpha IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and recruitment. Required IFCJC outcomes included removal of one recruitment event for Spring 2018. Further incidents of recruitment violations will result in sanctions of increased severity.

Spring 2017 Beta Theta Pi University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding new member education.  Required University outcomes included completion of educational programming on positive new member activities and submission of a revised new member education plan to the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life. 
Spring 2017 Phi Delta Theta IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and recruitment. Required IFCJC outcomes included completion of educational programming on alcohol and a fine. Further incidents of alcohol or recruitment violations prior to the end of Spring 2018 will result in sanctions of increased severity. 
Spring 2017 Pi lambda Phi IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and recruitment. Required IFCJC outcomes included composition of a letter of apology to the individuals involved in the incident and the removal of one recruitment event for Spring 2018. Further incidents of recruitment violations will result in sanctions of increased severity.
Spring 2017 Chi Phi IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding physical abuse and personal conduct. Required IFCJC outcomes included the composition of a letter of apology to the individuals involved in the incident and a fine. Further incidents of physical abuse and/or personal conduct violations will result in sanctions of increased severity.

Fall 2017 Omega Psi Phi University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding alcohol and social events. Required University outcomes included submission of revised risk management procedures and philanthropy guidelines to Fraternity & Sorority Life. 
Fall 2017 Sigma Kappa ISC The chapter failed to comply with ISC standards regarding recruitment. Required ISC outcomes included a review of NPC Unanimous Agreement policies.
Fall 2017 Delta Zeta ISC The chapter failed to comply with ISC standards regarding recruitment. Required ISC outcomes included a review of NPC Unanimous Agreement policies.
Fall 2017 Alpha Chi Omega ISC The chapter failed to comply with ISC standards regarding recruitment. Required ISC outcomes included a fine. 
Fall 2017 Sigma Phi Society University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding alcohol and new member education The chapter's Fraternal Organization Agreement was terminated in Fall 2017. The fraternity was conditionally reinstated to participate in the Spring 2018 recruitment process.
Fall 2017 Pi Lambda Phi IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and social events.  Required IFC outcomes included a fine and revision of social function safety policy.  Further incidents of alcohol and/or social event violations will result in sanctions of increased severity. 
Fall 2017 Alpha Delta Phi University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding programming attendance. The chapter's Fraternal Organization Agreement was suspended until May 18, 2018. 
Spring 2018 Alpha Chi Omega University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding alcohol.  Required University outcomes included the completion of an alcohol education program with 100% attendance from the chapter. 
Spring 2018 Phi Gamma Delta IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and recruitment. Required IFCJC outcomes included a fine. Further incidents of alcohol and/or recruitment violations will result in sanctions of increased severity. 
Spring 2018 Sigma Nu IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and recruitment. Required IFCJC outcomes included a fine. Further incidents of alcohol and/or recruitment violations will result in sanctions of increased severity. 
Spring 2018 Pi Kappa Phi IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding alcohol and recruitment. Required IFCJC outcomes included removal of one recruitment event for spring 2019. Spring 2018 Phi Kappa Psi University; IFC The chapter failed to comply with University and IFC standards regarding alcohol, recruitment, and new member education.   Required University and IFCJC outcomes included completion of an educational program on hazing prevention, discontinuation of all physical activities associated with IFC Bid Day and new member education,  submission of revised IFC Bid Day activities and new member education plan to Fraternity & Sorority Life staff, and a fine. Further incidents of new member education violations will result in the immediate termination of the chapter's Fraternal Organization Agreement. 
Spring 2018 Sigma Lambda Upsilon University The chapter failed to comply with University standards regarding new member education.  Required University outcomes included submission of a revised new member education plan, loss of new member presentation privileges for spring 2018, and a period of suspension from May 2-August 28, 2018. Further violations of new member education policies will result in the termination of the chapter's Fraternal Organization Agreement.  
Spring 2018 St. Elmo Hall IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding personal conduct. Required IFCJC outcomes included completion of an educational program on personal conduct and a fine. Further incidents of personal conduct violations will result in sanctions of increased severity.
Spring 2018 Sigma Alpha Epsilon IFC The chapter failed to comply with IFC standards regarding recruitment. Required IFCJC outcomes included a fine and additional recruitment event location restrictions. Further incidents of recruitment violations will result in sanctions of increased severity.

Further incidents of alcohol or recruitment violations will result in sanctions of increased severity.
